NRAC Students Write and Record Own Songs

Throughout the month, students in Grades 6-8 Honors ELA participated in 5 workshops with a professional songwriter from Roots of American Music. Students wrote poetry reflecting on a quote by Holocaust victim Etty Hillesum, "I no longer believe that we can change anything in the world until we have first changed ourselves." Their poetry was then assembled into a collective song. Their efforts culminated into 3 original songs being recorded by a music producer and entered into the Maltz Museum Stop the Hate Student Songwriting Contest.
